I need help, advice, guidance...

My cousin works as an event planner, mostly for weddings, quinceneras and sweet sixteens, and she has this client who wants to do a belly dancing solo for her quincenera in October. I was the first person she thought of when this girl told her that. I got super excited when she thought of me!
I've been belly dancing for 3 years(cabaret and tribal), and just recently i've gotten confident in my dance, but I dont know where to begin with this. I've never had to choreograph for someone, never had to choreograph for myself , i've never gotten paid to do it, heck...i havent even performed in front of a large audience yet(I have my first performance next week...and thats a whole other topic!). Anyways, I'll be teaching this girl a routine for one song, and we'll probably only be able to practice 1-2hrs. a week. And she's never taken a belly dancing class before, and I think she has only seen it on tv or in shakira videos.

So my question is...how do I get started? Should I pick a song or let her? Do I teach her the fundamentals to the basic movements? Do I just go straight into the choreography? And how much should I charge?

Help?!

=)

Keep it very simple. Pick a song no more than 3 minutes and choreograph it, simple and elegant - maybe repeat the refrain and have some themes. Don't try to do everything you know in this one time 3 minute dance. Teach her the choreography, clear and concise and work on technique as needed as you go through the choreography. Be sure to practice all parts equal time, or you know the beginning and not the end. Do have an exciting entrance and a definite ending. And do rehearse and plan how to come onto stage - in spotlight and how to leave it gracefully. Practice and practice and practice, overdo the practice till you think your bored, then perform it for a group of friends or on the street before the event. Practice smiling now during the practice or it won't happen on the actual performance.

Breathe alot and don't get inebriated before the performance. One sip of wine or two, though may help settle nerves, but I prefer Kava tincture by far, available at your local herb store. Many blessings, its about fun and joy!
